On November 5th, 2019 Democrats won both the House of Delegates and the State Senate—securing total control of the state government for the first time since 1993!

This is historic. And you helped make it happen.

Here’s how Virginia’s election broke down by the numbers:

• Democrats won 14 out of our 20 target races.

• Of those, we’ve flipped 8 seats and held 6 critical swing seats.

• 18 of our 20 target races were decided by a margin of 10% or less.

And here’s how Swing Left volunteers across the country helped make it happen:

Flipping the Virginia legislature means Democrats can finally pass progressive legislation like gun violence prevention, education reform, and the Equal Rights Amendment.

And Democrats can now draw fair electoral maps for the next decade.

These wins are a major blow to Trump, and send the GOP a clear message: Democrats are fired up and ready to take them on in 2020.
